Diciembre 1982, regresaba a Buenos Aires luego de dos semanas de viaje en USA intentando vender el club de tenis que había construido en Brasil. Tenía que hacer noche en Nueva York y nevaba terriblemente. Ninguna opción más que quedarme en el hotel. Tomé las Páginas amarillas y leo Tennis parties every night. Llamo y me dicen que vaya con raqueta y si no tenía me prestaban una, a 1ª AV 60 st, debajo del puente a las 20 hs.
Allí fui pagué los u$s 25.-, 6 canchas de polvo dentro de un enorme globo, un sencillo vestuario, una mesa de sandwiches y dos simpáticos profesores que nos presentaban: 2 peruanas, 3 tejanos, 1 sueco, 2 alemanas, etc y yo, eramos unos 20.
Los y partidos, también de single. Enseguida nació un ambiente de humor y sana competencia como si nos hubiésemos conocido de toda la vida. Jugamos dos horas, reimos, nos divertimos y al final los profes se disfrazaron e improvisaron un show. Nos dimos nuestras direcciones, juramos escribirnos... A la una y media un profe nos dice “People ¿do you ever sleep? Good night, come back soon".
Estas vivencias constituyeron la gran semilla de esa idea que recién ahora, luego de 33 años, intento su realización.
THE SEED
During December 1982, after travelling through USA trying to sell my tennis club in Brazil, I was staying that night in New York, before my return to Buenos Aires. Outside it was snowing terribly. I read in the yellow pages “TENNIS PARTIES EVERY NIGHT”, so I called and they told me “come with your racquet, if you haven’t brought it, we lend you one. 1st Ave and 60st bellow the bridge at 8 pm”.
There I paid U$S 25 , and I found 6 tennis courts bellow a big globe, simple but clean changing rooms, a long table with sandwiches and two nice pros introduced us: 2 Peruvians, 3 Texans, 1 Swedish, 2 Germans, and myself. We were around 20.
We played doubles and singles too. From de very beginning there was an atmosphere of humor and empathy as if we have been friends for years.
At the end of the night we exchange addresses and we promised to write to each other.
At 1.30 am one of the pros told us “People, do you ever sleep? ... Come back soon!”
This true story is the seed, 33 years later.

Actividades y profesiones provocan, entre los que las tienen iguales o similares, una sensación de afinidad con el otro, su colega, aunque viva en otra ciudad o país y, mismo que hable otro idioma.
En general, este sentimiento no es muy fuerte pues, se relaciona solo con el trabajo o el deber lo que, le resta algo de alegría y placer, al establecerse las relaciones personales.
Pero hay otra afinidad que no tiene que ver con el trabajo y, esta sí provoca toda la fuerza de atracción positiva. Está dentro del Tiempo Libre y se podría presentar como: “ hobbies, deportes, diversas artes, actividades coleccionistas etc.
Esta afinidad llega con muchísima fuerza al estar ligada al placer y, da respuesta, principalmente, a ese tiempo libre que dispone quien viaja a otro país o ciudad. Este es el gran común denominador de los AFFY CLUBES, nombre derivado de “affinity”, afinidad en inglés.
Como ejercicio, piensa en todos los viajes de negocios o turismo a distintas ciudades o paises; las ganas que te hubiese dado poder compartir tu deporte o hobby con gente, tambien, de paso. Este pensamiento te ayudará a comprender las virtudes de este concepto.
Hoteles, Agencias de Turismo receptivo, clubes con instalaciones solamente ociosas, en días y horarios, espacios a ser ocupados por visitantes tenistas, jugadores de bridge, ajedrez etc, etc. Estas actividades organizadas y provistas por los:

Similar professions and activities cause affinity feelings among colleagues, even living in diverse countries and speaking different languages.
Those feelings are not too strong because they are related with work and do not have enough arguments for attraction.
